Welcome to Inspired Constitution.org, a website devoted to helping people understand that the principles of freedom and liberty vouchsafed by the United States Constitution were inspired by God, and are for the benefit of all mankind.

Several members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have written books and created learning aids to help in this endeavor. We hope to provide access to the best of this material, as well as quotes from latter-day prophets and apostles, as well as the founding fathers themselves.

H. Verlan Andersen

“It is probable that there is no subject about which there is more dispute today than that of politics. For as long as man has been on earth, government has been one of his most difficult and serious problems. Much of this contention centers around the role of government in economic affairs. This instability not only threatens to destroy our free enterprise system but also the foundations upon which it rests. There is no group which should be more anxiously concerned with finding a solution to the problems enumerated above than the owners and operators of economic enterprises.”

Jerome Horowitz:

“The return to our constitutional freedom system then requires changing the philosophy of the people from a commitment to democracy to a commitment to true constitutional freedom principles—this is the area where we must devote our main effort.”

J. Reuben Clark

“I would like here to recommend to all of you that you read the first two paragraphs and the last paragraph of the Declaration of Independence, for the purpose of getting a view as to why this government was set up. It was not set up as an eleemosynary government to feed and clothe and nurture all the rest of the world. It was set up for the purpose of establishing a government which should bring peace and prosperity to the people of this nation, and when you have read those paragraphs, read the Preamble to the Constitution itself.”
